Hasui Kawase
Born in Tokyo from 1883 to 1957. Learned Japanese painting from Kiyokata Kaburagi. Under the influence of Ito Shinsui's "Omi Hakkei", he worked on printmaking, and under the publisher Shozaburo Watanabe, he pursued "new prints" using traditional ukiyo-e techniques and created landscape prints rich in travel sentiment. His representative works are Twenty Views of Tokyo and Twelve Themes of Tokyo.
